One place for everything that concerns you on ARTup, reachable from the top of
the screen. Rather than each part of the platform finding its own way to reach
you, they all arrive here.
Everyone with an account. It is where the platform asks you things, so it is not
optional in practice.
See what has happened. Someone named you in their record. Someone answered
a mention you made. A disagreement was opened about one of your entries,
including when BART finds that a document you uploaded contradicts what is
already on your record. In that case you first get a warning, not a dispute. Your QR codes were scanned, told to you at most once a
day for each code. These are simply told to you.
Answer what needs answering. Some notifications are not statements but
questions, and the platform waits on you. The clearest case is someone claiming
a relationship with you: you confirm it or you dispute it, and the record follows
your decision. Those are marked so you can tell them apart from things you can
merely read and move on from.
The same goes for contradictions. If you time-stamp data that still contradicts
your own other data, a notification tells you and carries a link to edit each
record involved. Fixing the records and saving clears the contradiction. If a
record of yours is in an open contradiction it does not count for your scores
until it is fixed. If you time-stamp data that contradicts another user's
verified data, a dispute is opened. If BART matched one of your records with
someone else's and you said they are different, the other user is notified.
The AI itself never opens a dispute.
Look back. Notifications are kept rather than discarded once read, so you can
find the one you half remember from weeks ago, and see whether something
important actually reached you. You can mark them as read one by one or all
at once.
Pop-up alerts. Besides the list, the platform can show a short pop-up in
the window you have open, with a title, a message and a level (information,
success, warning or error), at the moment something is sent to you. Only you
receive notices addressed to you; no other user can listen in on yours. The
pop-ups are shown by the Suite frame, so they reach you once the frame is in
place (see "The ARTup Suite"). How the platform delivers them is described in
Messaging & Event Distribution.
Planned: being told when your score changes and when a payment has gone
through.
Planned: choosing, for each part of the platform, which kinds of event are worth
hearing about and where they reach you: in the platform itself, by email, or on
your phone.
Your notifications are yours. No other account can read them, and there is no
administrator's view onto them.
You are not required to keep checking every corner of the platform to find out
whether something needs you. Things that need a decision come and find you, and
things that do not stay out of the way.
