Somewhere to put your own site and your own email address, run by ARTup, set up
by answering a few questions instead of by understanding how any of it works.
Artists and galleries who want a presence of their own alongside their ARTup
profile, and who do not want to become part-time system administrators to get
one.
Find a name. Type the address you want and see whether it is free and what it
would cost, with suggestions if it is taken.
Bring a name you already own. If you have an address elsewhere, the platform
checks whether it can be moved across rather than abandoned.
Choose a plan. Plans differ in what they include, and you see what each one
offers before you choose.
Be walked through it. The setup is a short sequence of steps: choose the
address, choose the look of the site from ready-made designs, choose the
mailboxes, give your billing details, pay. There is nothing to install and
nothing to configure.
Start from what ARTup already knows. Your site can be filled from your
ARTup profile: your biography, your works and your contacts. You see what will
be brought in before it happens, and you can refresh it later.
Get email at your own address. Mailboxes on your own name rather than a
generic provider, set up with the site, and added or removed later as you need.
Leave the upkeep to the service. Once the site is running, routine
maintenance is handled for you, including keeping the security certificate
valid, keeping the software current, and keeping backups.
In progress: booking, appointments or a request form on your site.
Besides ordinary pages, a site can have a service page, a page that offers a
booking calendar, appointment booking or a request form. Sites for places that
take bookings, such as accommodation, start with a booking tool included. If the
tool behind a service page is not available, visitors see a contact page with
your phone and email buttons and any other links you chose, never an empty or
broken page.
In progress: badges in the footer. You can add up to twelve links or images
to the footer of your site, for example the badge of an association. The images
are held on your own site.
Planned: moving a site you already have onto the service.
Planned: an assistant that helps you adjust the design of your site.
Planned: selling your own work from your site, on the plans that include a
shop, with payments running through the same route as everywhere else on the
platform.
Planned: support included with the service, with the speed of response
depending on the plan you are on.
A professional presence you own, at your own address, without the part of that
job that has nothing to do with making art.
